LUXEMBOURGISH A1 / MOVLA

TARGET AUDIENCE

You do not speak Luxembourgish at all, apart from a few basic words such as "Moien" and "Äddi".

You want to make quick progress in learning Luxembourgish and have enough time to commit to an intensive language course comprising 5 weekly classes.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the workshop, and depending on your independent work, you should be able to:

• Introduce yourself simply and introduce someone else
• Exchange basic information about family, work, hobbies, plans, housing, and daily life, etc.
• Communicate in simple everyday situations: at a restaurant, at the doctor’s office, etc.

METHODOLOGY

• Pair work and work in the class plenum
• The workshop is based on the Moving Languages (MovLa) method, a dynamic, multisensory and immersive approach that enables learners to acquire a lot of knowledge in a short amount of time.

KEY FEATURES OF THE METHOD

• The course is conducted entirely in Luxembourgish. The focus is on oral expression and comprehension.
• Vocabulary is introduced and reinforced through dynamic rituals and varied activities: role plays, real-life scenarios, movement, songs, rhythm games...
• The classroom is arranged without tables, with chairs in a semicircle to allow for movement and interaction.
• Each week, learners follow the storyline of a single evolving narrative thread.
• Participants adopt a fictional identity which they keep throughout the course, promoting spontaneous and uninhibited interactions.
• Written work is included occasionally through exercises in a weekly activity booklet.

 COURSE TYPE

This workshop (3 hours a day, five days a week, for 8 weeks) is based on the work schemes drawn up on the basis of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

COURSE MATERIALS

A weekly activity booklet is provided.

EVALUATION

The assessment will be formative and the learner will not receive a skills assessment at the end of the semester. At the end of the workshop a "Certificat de participation" [attendance certificate] will be issued to the learners.
