French B2.2-B2.3-C1 Workshop : French through art

TARGET AUDIENCE

You have achieved at least a B2.1 level. You are curious and passionate about art, eager to discover and observe masterpieces and historic works of art as well as works by artists little known to the general public.

Anyone wishing to deepen their knowledge by analyzing or commenting on a work of art in a playful and multicultural atmosphere in which they can share their impressions, thoughts and criticisms.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Assuming regular attendance and independent study, you should be able to do the following by the end of this workshop:

– Be able to express yourself freely about a work

– Present and justify the criticism of a work

– Share your impressions and thoughts with the group

– Create a collective project with the group

You will also learn about a sample of works of art from different artistic genres.

METHODOLOGY

During the workshops, you will discover a work of art (painting, sculpture, architecture, photography, etc.), an artistic movement, a concept or an artistic motif from an online site, a museum or a media. that you will analyze, comment on and criticize.

Artists will also visit the class to present their work and discuss their artistic practices.

The exchanges in the workshop are carried out in small groups and by whole class.

Outings to cultural venues in Luxembourg will also be offered during the set workshop hours (MUDAM, Villa Vauban, Casino de Luxembourg, artist studios, etc.).

Micro-tasks are to be carried out on Padlet at the end of each workshop.

COURSE TYPE

This workshop (once a week, for one semester):

– is based on the skills outlined in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

– is intended for people who want to maintain their language level or progress at a more relaxed pace. There might be additional work required outside of the classroom.

Learners are not assessed. No certificate outlining the skills level will be issued and re-registration in a higher level course is not possible.

TV5 Monde, works of art from online museum sites, visits to exhibitions, virtual museum visits.

EVALUATION

A workshop is not subject to evaluation, and therefore does not entitle you to a skills assessment or re-registration in a higher level course.
