Luxembourgish A1 Compact combined

TARGET AUDIENCE

Any beginner who wants to make quick progress in learning Luxembourgish and have enough time to commit to a language course interested in developing their oral and written communication skills in the language offered, and who is in possession of a suitable computer (a PC, tablet or laptop) which is connected to the internet, and which the learner is able to use productively.

The course participant has good word-processing skills (i.e. is able to use MS Office, emails, etc.) as well as the ability and willingness to use various applications, as well as ‘cloud’ and online sharing platforms, which are necessary to take these courses.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Assuming regular attendance and independent study, you should achieve the level A1 of the CEFR by the end of this course.

You should be able to do the following:

  • Meet and greet a person, and state your personal details
  • Introduce yourself in a simple way and introduce someone else
  • Exchange simple information about your family, work, outings, plans, holidays, home, etc.
  • Talk about your everyday activities and your hobbies
  • Ask and answer questions in a simple way about ordinary things: shopping, restaurants, cafés, etc.

COURSE TYPE

This course alternates between classroom and distance learning:

- once a week: a 100-minute face-to-face class (in-class) at INLL

- once a week: a 100-minute distance and live class via the Teams platform or Zoom

The two courses are compulsory and complementary.

This course is:

– based on work plans developed from the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)

– subject to evaluations and gives the learner the option of a skills assessment.

EVALUATION

Learners will be assessed on the basis of a final test at the end of each semester. They will receive a certificate outlining their level in the four skills (reading, writing, listening, and speaking).
