Certificaat Nederlands als Vreemde Taal
The CNaVT (Certificate of Dutch as a Foreign
Language) is an official test that assesses the Dutch language skills of people
whose mother tongue is not Dutch. It is recognized by academic institutions,
employers, and administrations in Dutch-speaking countries.
The CNaVT is organized by the National Institute of
Languages Luxembourg (INLL).
Target Audience
The CNaVT is aimed at anyone aged 16 or older who
wishes to have their level of Dutch evaluated for academic (students, future
students, interns), professional, or personal reasons.
The Test
The test includes several components that assess
skills in written and oral comprehension and production. The CNaVT is offered
once a year at the INLL between May 1 and May 15. Details of the test
components are available on the CNaVT website.
Evaluation
The tests are conducted at the INLL premises. The
papers are corrected by certified examiners from KU Leuven. Successful
candidates receive their certificate at the end of July. Unsuccessful
candidates receive a notification at the same time indicating that they did not
pass the exam.
Resources and test preparation sample tests and preparation materials are available on the official CNaVT website.
