CAPLE
The CAPLE (Centre for Evaluation and Certification
of Portuguese as a Foreign Language) is a specialized unit within the Faculty
of Arts of the University of Lisbon. It operates under its own statutes and
enjoys scientific autonomy.
CAPLE is the only official Portuguese institution
that evaluates and certifies written and spoken skills in Portuguese as a
Foreign Language (PFL). These certifications can be used for various purposes,
such as studying, applying for academic positions, finding a job in different
sectors, or obtaining Portuguese citizenship.
Target audience
CAPLE exams assess the language skills defined by the Common European
Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), across all six levels (A1 to C2),
and are intended for non-native speakers of Portuguese. In their standard
format, the exams are primarily aimed at candidates aged 16 and over.
